Black cats have long been believed to be a supernatural omen since the witch hunts of the middle ages when cats were thought to be connected to evil. Since then, it is considered bad luck if a black cat crosses your path.
An ancient myth our ancestors believed was that the image in a mirror is our actual soul. A broken mirror represented the soul being astray from your body. To break the spell of misfortune, you must wait seven hours (one for each year of bad luck) before picking up the broken pieces, and bury them outside in the moonlight.
In the days before the gallows, criminals were hung from the top rung of a ladder and their spirits were believed to linger underneath. Common folklore has it to be bad luck to walk beneath an open ladder and pass through the triangle of evil ghosts and spirits.
If an owl looks in your window or if you seeing one in the daylight bad luck and death will bestow you.
At one time salt was a rare commodity and thought to have magical powers. It was unfortunate to spill salt and said to foretell family disarray and death. To ward off bad luck, throw a pinch over your shoulder and all will be well.
Sparrows are thought to carry the souls of the dead and it is believed to bring bad luck if you kill one.
The fear of the number 13 is still common today, and avoided in many different ways. Some buildings still do not have an official 13th floor and many people avoid driving or going anywhere on Friday the 13th.
Let's get me some salt and hope I can stay away from mirrors and ladders now!
Happy Halloween!

Sorry to all those who have felt shunned from our blog recently. That sweet husband of mine was playing around on the blog, and decided to make our status private. People kept telling me all week that my blog was private and since I have been so bad at even checking my blog, let alone updating or changing anything I figured there was no way. Well, I guess I should never underestimate the husband. So now you are all 'unshunned' so no worries. Preston was just being protective, and has joined the "my blog should be private" stance. I, however am not convinced yet. Maybe when we can pr..
(I Preston am now taking over the post) All of you blog stalkers leave my wife alone! No more peaking in our windows at night wondering if "Addie the Puggle" will make another appearance! Kids, are still something we are practicing so there that is. Also, we love our jobs and life is good. I plan on blocking this later. Good luck finding us online, j/k just google Ledah Andrew, she is famous... back to Ledah....
?? wow.. Not sure what else to say. That pretty much explains it.
Ledah signing out...

Last week was so fun, being my birthday week and all. :) Yes, the big 26! Can't believe I'm nearly late twenties! Where does the time go! Anyways, I really had a fun and crazy week! My birthday was Wednesday so Preston planned a date night for the two of us at a really fancy restaurant.

Another cause to the madness for us lately is about two weeks ago on May 9th, Preston's dad got remarried to Julie Foust. We are so excited and happy for them! It was a really great celebration, but kept us very busy because they left all of the wedding planning in our hands! Yup everything! Colors, food, florals, etc. With alot of help from so many people, Auntie Carol & I put it all together! We did all the planning in about 3 weeks, and it really turned into a success! If you know me, you know I love weddings, yes it's on my list to be a wedding planner. So I really had fun! They did the reception the night before at Greg's ward, and we did our best to transform the place! Thank you everyone (Mom too!) for your help, it really turned out great!
The Happy Couple!
